Google Now Requires Email Verification for GBP Edits
Hey, I’m seeing a new change to Google Business Profiles that you need to know about right now.
Google is forcing email verification for important edits to your Google Business Profile. When you try to change your business name, hours, or category, Google sends a verification link to your email that you MUST click before your changes go live.

Why This Matters to Your Business
This extra security step creates delays. Your updates won’t publish immediately like before. If you miss that email or it lands in spam, your changes sit in limbo.
For my clients with multiple locations, this is a real headache. I now have to make sure we’ve got access to every location’s email account.

What You Need to Do Now
- Check your email regularly if you’re making GBP changes
- Watch to confirm your updates actually go through
- Plan ahead no more quick fixes or instant updates
Bottom line: This adds another step between you and potential customers finding accurate info about your business. Make sure you’re on top of those verification emails so you don’t lose business because of outdated information.
